Role Play and Skript Writing

This week we have been doing role play and we have to write scripts for our own plays this  has proven to be really hard. To writing scripts you need to have the plot it needs to entertain people it needs to make sense and the speech need to connect to each other. I have no idea what to have as my plot and i have no idea what to have as  the scene

2019 Film Festerval

On Thursday the 14th of November GreyMain school went to Greymouth's Regent theatre to watch other schools films some were cool and some of them were ok. So when we got there we were the first school there and had to wait for the other schools and when they got there we played the first part of the film festival.  Most schools used iMovie or we video. Paroa had some good movies there, two best ones were about a bank robber and the other had a drone to video it. The one that Grey Main sent in from Mamaku 1 where they used a green screen to show backgrounds of Shantytown and Deniston was good. I reckon the funniest film was from Paroa with the bank robber and Sherif.

Limericks

A limerick is a type of poem that has a certain ryming pattern and it has 5 lines. lets say that A was one line and B is another the ryming pattern will look like this AABBA  so here are a couple examples of a limerick.

A creature of charm is the gerbil
It's diets exclusivly herbal
It grazes all day
On bunchs of hay
Passing gas with an elgant burble

        An elderly man called keith
Mislaid his set off false teeth
They’d been laid on a chair
       He’d forgot they were there
He Sat down and was bitten beneath

And if you want to hear my own limrick that I made well your in luck here it is.

There once was a ghost
Who climbed up a lamp post
                            To get a toad
With a load
 Who was eating toast

helloween

This year on the 31st of October 2019 it was Halloween. To celebrate Halloween my family and I went to the shantytown Halloween party it was cool this year I went as a ninja. I did not get many lollies but Shantytowns haunted house was cool and if you went on the train there is a haunted zombie walk at the sawmill at Shantytown they have a disco with laser lights and a mirror ball at the Shantytown School there is the walk of fear where you wear a blindfold and follow a rope and the only thing guiding you was the rope. at the Shantytown Halloween party, they have the fire maze so in the house there are things like potplants and a couch, all inflatable of coarse but its pitch black in it. I think next year if you live near Greymouth you should go to the shanty tow Halloween party.

At Tech this Term

At Tech this term we got the choice of which class we want to be in, as for my first option I put in trash to cash and if we did not get into that class we had to have a second and third choice. For my second choice, I chose Wacky Wood and for my lucky last choice I choose Clay Creations. I got into trash to cash and I am loving it what we do is we bring in aluminum cans and the turn them into a toy or something cool. At the start, I made a car it proved to be way too hard so I had to keep trying so my friend gave me the idea of making wind chimes it has taken a bit of learning to know how to cut the can nicely and not butcher it.

Soccer Representatives

A few weeks ago I was asked if I would like to join the under 10s soccer representatives. We have been training for around 4 weeks. We are going to Canterbury to compete in some soccer games around the Canterbury area. We just recently sorted out our positions I'm going to be playing mid field, defense and goalie. We are going to play 5 or 6 games since I've never been in this team I'm not sure.  We're going to play in the school holidays. If any of you play soccer please leave a comment.

Argument

Here I am again with another argument but this time it is about banning 1080 poison and if you do not like 1080 poison good on you. Why because we should not need it we can hopefully keep it under control and if other countries have banned it then why can't we. And its also killing native birds and it has a cycle affect.

Should 1080 poison be banned?🖒🖓

I think 1080 poison should be banned because it's killing more than the d.o.c {department of conversation} wants to kill. It's also getting into waterways and animals are drinking the water. 1080 poison probably kills more birds than rodents do. Experts say that 1080 is banned in several countries including Brazil, Belize, Cuba, Laos, Slovenia and Thailand so why can't we ban it.

First of all it is killing more than its supposed to.its killing more than possums and rats its killing native birds.  Why can't we find different ways that is just as good can't we just use loads of traps, I have killed about ten rats this last month if we can get loads of traps all over the place we would probably have good control over the pests.

Secondly It’s getting into waterways. I’ve done the research It does not kill marine life, but animals will drink from creeks then probably die in the creek if there grazing or sleeping on the bank of the creek So making the creeks unsafe.

Lastly It might actually be killing more than rodents do. so there might actually no point in using it expert say “1080 kills  everything—native animals as well as introduced pests.” Australia's native mammals, birds and reptiles have developed much higher tolerance to 1080 than introduced animals, due to their evolution with naturally occurring 1080 in some native plants. ... “1080 kills only domestic dogs, it doesn't kill wild dogs.

So  just a recount 1080 should be banned in new zealand because it's not just killing pests, its getting into waterways and It's probably killing more than pests do. Thank you for understanding

Bread Tags

At School we are collecting bread tags because there is this thing that if collect 200kgs of bread tags which is a lot 😧we can buy a wheelchair for someone that needs it .Anyway I am contributing to this and we are hopefully going to get 200kg.

Wearable Arts

Hi today I'm going to tell you what my group is doing for wearable arts. First I need to tell you who is in my group it use to be Finn, James and I but James left the group and now we have Vin. Our project is a kiwi, how we are doing it is we have cage of chicken wire to hold the fabric. What are doing for the mask is we are paper mache a balloon and then we will cut it in half and paint it brown the beak is still a working progress but we think we will be able to pull it off.

Basic Algebra

Today I'm going to teach basic algebra. In math we have been focusing on algebra and I'm going to teach it to you unless you don't want me to if so close this tab if you want me to teach you then click this and go on the slide. So did you get those questions? Great job.

language

Hi its Marlin again and I just want to talk about what we are doing in the classroom. Lately we have been learning about Italy and we are going to learn the basic words. We have already  looked at the shape of Italy its kind of a boot kicking a ball. Here are a few basic words in  Italian.

  Ciao - Hello

production

Hello again its Marlin and I'm here to talk about the Production. The Production was done in week 3 term 3 at Grey Main School and it was a blast, although there was a lot of practising even on Sundays but it really paid off as loads of people was there. We did three shows one on Thursday 7pm, Friday 7pm and Saturday 1pm then after the Saturday show we had the after party. Other than the work it was pretty fun but if I had the choice of doing it again I would probably not do it. So that's one more thing about the Production.

Coordinates

Hi there marlin here with more maths DLO's and this time its about coordinates. Coordinates are things like if you have a square with on the x axis you have a-g grid and on the y axis is 1-7 and you wanted to mark the middle of that square you would say d-4 and you would hit the bulls eye. If you've played battleships you will probably know the coordinates but still please click this link

Enlargement

Hi its Marlin again this week we've been doing enlargements for maths. At the start we started using ordinary shapes and enlarged them by mostly 2 - 4  squares bigger. But in week 4 we got a cartoon character and printed it to an A4 piece of paper and drew 1x1 cm squares on it, seen how many squares  it took up on the y and x axis and then divided that number by the A2 piece of paper length (59cm) and width  (42cm) and then enlarged it by that amount. my cartoon character was PAC Man.

term two review

This term was the first part of term that I've been at greymain this term has fun filled and educational.  I've learned some new ways to work out maths problems  I started a blog page and I got a bit of practice writing arguments I've fitted well into rey main

more arguments

hi there yet again we've been writing more arguments and this one is about should animals be kept in zoos? and if you want to read mine you must read on

Should animals be kept in zoos?

I think animals should not be kept in zoos because they are there for human entertainment.
Even if they get feed sometimes they dont get fed enough food.
And if they are hunting animals (eg lion, tigers and bears) will lose their hunting instincts.

Firstly they’re for human entertainment.
I don’t  think you would like to kept in a cage with people watching you.
I mean that would suck if you were an animal every hour people are watching you.
Would you like to be used for human entertainment  when your locked in a cage?.

Secondly feeding they do get fed but I don’t think enough.
seriously I think one hunk of meat will be  enough for a whole pride of lions.
Male lions eat 16 pounds or more a day of food a day equaling to 7.25748 kg and a female is
11 pounds which is about 3.62874.
Experts say that It's not always possible to feed the animals what they would eat in the wild.
Some animals, coming from the wild or other zoos, have to be trained to eat foods other than
what they're used to, and it can take a while for the
commissary to come up with a nutritious diet that the animal likes, or recognizes as food.

Last but not  least their instincts.
some animals that are taken from the wild are losing their hunting instinct because they get too
reliant on the zoo keeper to feed them. They aren't hunting for their food  they are just getting
food dumped in their cage. And scavenging animals are losing their instincts for the same
reason.

So just a recap.
I think that animals should not be kept in zoos because they are for animal entertainment.
they are getting fed enough but not  everyday and they are losing their animals instincts.
Did you that elephants in logging camps live longer than ones in zoos

Math this week

Hi again today im going to tell you about what we are doing for this week we are learning about probability so it would be easier to show how to do this on a slide so click this link If you got that second question right well done .

cell phone argument

this week and last week we started writing arguments. we had to do  one about cellphones should a kid have one or not this one is mine im going with if your 10 or over here it is.

Cell Phones Argument

I reckon kids should have a cellphone when they are 10 but  kids should learn how to use a phone for communication when they are at school for  walking home or if they go for a bike ride. And if they get lost or hurt they can contact someone they trust. Also  they are really good for entertainment you download lots of handy and fun apps good for long waits.

First of all a cell phone can be easily used for communication. If their friends have cellphones and they don’t then if their friends are organising something to have some fun they can organise it by themselves and not needing to use  your phone to organise it. So that means they wont need to annoy you for your phone to use.

Secondly a cell phone is useful if you are lost or hurt. away from home and if your not there say there at the park and fall of the climbing frame they can call you or someone they trust or an ambulance if needed or if they need the police they can directly contact them. If you ask me they need a cellphone for this kind of  thing even if they are younger than 10. But they still might need a cellphone to use if they let's say that their at school and they find out they have something after school and they need to tell. Don't get all mixed up this phone can be for contacts and not games.

Lastly a cell phone can provide entertainment. they can download apps so like if they are waiting at the hospital of doctors they can be entertained. Or if they need to wait for something else and they are good for downloading music for long waits at the airport. tell me what you would do if you had a long wait at the airport waiting for your plane?

So if they ever need to organise something with their friend they can you don't have to or if there ever in an emergency they can communicate. Cellphones are also very helpful for when they have a long wait at the doctors and are in need of entertainment. So if you have a kid about to hit 10 or older and they don’t have one yet then maybe consider a cellphone for their birthday [or maybe just as a treat]

Statistics

hey bloggers I'm back. today I'm going to teach about statistics. so what we have been doing for statistics is we have been doing graphs like picta graphs, stem and leaf graphs, line graphs. So i'm going to show you on this how to do a stem and leaf graphs so if you want me to teach you click here.

Myth

The last couple of weeks we have been writing our myths Ms Power has read us about five myths to help us write our myths which must be about a natural phenomenon. I've just finished my myth, it's about how the grass came to be green.
