Argument

Here I am again with another argument but this time it is about banning 1080 poison and if you do not like 1080 poison good on you. Why because we should not need it we can hopefully keep it under control and if other countries have banned it then why can't we. And its also killing native birds and it has a cycle affect.

Should 1080 poison be banned?🖒🖓

I think 1080 poison should be banned because it's killing more than the d.o.c {department of conversation} wants to kill. It's also getting into waterways and animals are drinking the water. 1080 poison probably kills more birds than rodents do. Experts say that 1080 is banned in several countries including Brazil, Belize, Cuba, Laos, Slovenia and Thailand so why can't we ban it.

First of all it is killing more than its supposed to.its killing more than possums and rats its killing native birds.  Why can't we find different ways that is just as good can't we just use loads of traps, I have killed about ten rats this last month if we can get loads of traps all over the place we would probably have good control over the pests.

Secondly It’s getting into waterways. I’ve done the research It does not kill marine life, but animals will drink from creeks then probably die in the creek if there grazing or sleeping on the bank of the creek So making the creeks unsafe.

Lastly It might actually be killing more than rodents do. so there might actually no point in using it expert say “1080 kills  everything—native animals as well as introduced pests.” Australia's native mammals, birds and reptiles have developed much higher tolerance to 1080 than introduced animals, due to their evolution with naturally occurring 1080 in some native plants. ... “1080 kills only domestic dogs, it doesn't kill wild dogs.

So  just a recount 1080 should be banned in new zealand because it's not just killing pests, its getting into waterways and It's probably killing more than pests do. Thank you for understanding
